How to Open a Coconut – Tips & Techniques

How to open a coconut is not an easy process, but it can be done with patience and diligence. The process involves using a hammer to break the outer covering of the coconut.

If you have read anything about how to open a coconut, you know that the coconut is hard. It is not going to fall apart easily if you try to pry it loose with your hands. So you may need to use a hammer to pound it free from the shell. This is not as bad as it sounds.

You will also need to use a sharp knife to pierce the shell of the coconut. You want to do this right at the edge where the meat is located. The knife should be sharp enough so that you don’t get any cuts in the meat. A good knife will be dull as well. If the knife is dull, it will not be effective in piercing the shell.

How to open a coconut with a knife is not a difficult process. You just need to be sure that you are doing it correctly. Some people get frustrated because they are too aggressive when they pierce the shell. You don’t want to do that.

When you do pierce the shell don’t work your way around it. Do a straight line across and then back across to the opening. Continue this process until you find the end of the coconut.

Now you need to take off the shell covering the coconut. You will do this by lifting the skin right above the meat of the coconut. You need to do this with force and you should not be able to pull or tug the skin back out.

After you have removed the skin, you can go on to the meat. You will need to peel off the outer membrane of the coconut. To do this you will need to poke a hole in the top of the coconut. When you poke a hole in the top of the coconut, it will allow you to get to the meat without having to cut through the shell.

When you have opened the coconut you should see the meat floating inside. You can put the flesh in a bowl and cover with a plastic bag. Or you can use your hand and pull the flesh up and down to make it more airy.

To pierce the meat all you need to do is stick the tip of your knife through the hole that was poked into the top of the coconut. Once you’ve done this, you need to twist the knife around so that it is pointing in the direction of the hole. Twist the knife back and forth about thirty times until it has reached the middle.

Once you have done this you will have to work your way down the inside wall of the coconut. You will need to get to the bottom by twisting the knife. around in a clockwise motion, so that the middle of the knife gets pointed towards the hole.

Once you have reached the bottom, you will need to pierce the meat using your other hand. The knife you used to get into the top should be held out in front. You will need to use your other hand to hold the flesh in front of the flesh and make sure that it stays inside the bag. It is important that you don’t twist your palm as you will cut the meat.
